“The lunch was delicious. Top! It would have been even better if the restaurant had been on the lake. I found the tour and tasting very poor. I did not find the winery beautiful in terms of location but also not very special in terms of tour. The tasting was in a large uninviting space where we could taste the glass while standing. I had also hoped that we would drive through the vineyards, hardly saw any vines. I found the excursion too expensive for what you got. We were picked up and taken from A to B but there was not a nice route along and through the vineyards.…”

Nicolò, a local, provided information during our hour-long drive to the Franciacorta area. Our first stop was Ronco Calino Winery, where our guide, Serena, shared fascinating details about the terroir, history, and philosophy of the winery. We toured the cellars, tasted two sparkling wines, and took photos in the vineyard.
